Notes |
Application made by Messers T Pocock and Co, Waterford Mills to exempt
Charles George Weston an engine driver. Application was made, as this was
an exempted occupation. Waterford Mills were at the time making khaki
material for officer’s uniforms. It would be impossible to replace
Weston as he had been employed for a number of years and had gained a
great deal of technical knowledge about the engines. The board asked what
would happen if Weston were to fall ill. The answer given was that it
would be a catastrophe as there were only about three men capable of
looking after the machines. He was granted an exemption until 1 September,
conditional on him remaining with the same employer.
