Known as Leon. Birth registered April - June 1884
Jordan had been in the Constitutional Club shooting team. He was a member
of the local operatic society, having a rich bass voice and played the
parts of Dick Dead-Eye in the a 1912 production of HMS Pinafore and in
1913, Sgt Meryll in Yeoman of the Guard (see photo below). Jordan also sang in the St
Andrews church choir.
His father had been the headmaster of Christian Malford school. Before the
war, Jordan was a clerk at Smith Marshall Solicitors and Assistant
Overseer for Christian Malford.
Jordan was a member of the National Reserve and was called up at the
outbreak of war. He joined his regiment and went ot France in July 1915.
Jordan was noted for always doing his best for his company. He was killed
when a shell burst whilst he was taking rations to his company when they
were occupying forward trenches.
His death was reported to 1917 AGM of the Sports Club. This AM also
reported the deaths of 3 other committee members, G Wilson, E Wilson and S
Rowe.
Jordan lived with his widowed mother at 2 Park Lane.
