Son of George and Mabel Copeland, of Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Took off from Grimsby at 2156 31 July to attack a flying bomb storage depot in Lancaster LM585. Crashed at 2335 to the NW of Haverskerque, 12km S of Hazebrouck.
